Government claims that the ageing population will greatly increase the costs of public health care service and we all have to share this cost through health care reform. I firmly believe that there shall be no change in our health care financing model unless and until cost effectiveness of the current system is brought to full competency.
I will advocate for real choice for patients with Chinese medicine, homeopathy and chiropractic practice recognized by the insurance industry and included in public health care services.
I call for:
1. A comprehensive value-for-money review of public healthcare services to ensure the best use of existing resources;
2. Formulation of comprehensive policies conducive to healthy living, including urban planning, transport and labour;
3. Elimination of charges of public medical services to the chronically ill and elderly over 65;
4. Healthcare insurance to be a tax-exempt item, and the insurance sector to recognize cures and therapies other than the Western medical discipline;
5. The provision of Chinese medicine, chiropractors and homeopathy practices in the public health care system;
6. Provision of optical treatment to the elderly to prevent injury caused by weak eyesight
